Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before you sign.

Understand what the petition does, how your information is handled, and how the campaign plans to use verified support.

Who can sign?

PTs, PTAs, students, patients, caregivers, and supporters from every state are welcome to sign.

Does signing cost anything?

No. The petition is free and voluntary.

Is this affiliated with APTA?

No. Stand for PT is an independent clinician-led initiative. The petition may be delivered to APTA at stated milestones, but APTA does not operate or sponsor the campaign.

Is this a union authorization card?

No. It is a public-policy petition. Signing does not create or authorize a union.

Why does the website discuss a union or professional federation?

Some PTs and PTAs have local collective-bargaining representation, but many do not have a profession-specific collective voice at work. Stand for PT supports a constructive discussion about lawful options that could strengthen pay, benefits, retirement security, staffing, retention, and patient care. The petition itself does not create a union, choose a bargaining representative, or authorize organizing activity.

Can I sign electronically?

Yes. The website form is the fastest option. Your typed full name serves as your electronic signature after you affirm the voluntary-signature statement.

What information may be shared?

Your name, credentials or role, city, and state may be included when the petition is delivered. Your personal email and handwritten or electronic signature record remain private and are used only for verification and petition administration.

How do I return a paper signature?

Email a clear photograph or scan of the signed final page to standforpt@gmail.com. Use the subject line: Signed Petition – Full Name – State. You may also DM the official @standforpt account.

Can I use my work email or employer equipment?

Use personal accounts and devices unless you have permission. Do not include patient information or confidential employer information.

What happens at each milestone?

The petition identifies specific delivery and meeting requests at 500 and 1,000 verified New Jersey signatures and 5,000 and 10,000 nationwide signatures.
